NetZone Cyber Café is a cyber café that provides computer services and internet access to people for a variety of uses such as browsing websites, playing online games, communication and completing basic office tasks. Although mobile technology has grown, cyber cafés like NetZone Cyber Café still remain relevant, especially for individual who don’t own personal computers or need fast and reliable internet access for a short period of time.
This project proposes the development of a NetZone Cyber Café aimed at serving local residents, students and casual gamers. NetZone Cyber Café provides a comfortable and accessible environment and offers services such as internet browsing, online gaming, document preparation and light printing services.
The main objective of this project is to design a simple and effective computer network for NetZone Cyber Café, including hardware selection, software installation, network topology, IP addressing and internet connectivity. This proposal demonstrates how a basic network infrastructure can support daily cyber café operations efficiently and securely.
Network Devices
1. Internet Modem / ONT (from ISP)
a. Connects the café network to the ISP.
2. Router
a. Manages internet traffic
b. Provides Network Address Translation (NAT)
c. Acts as a firewall for basic security
d. Distributes IP addresses via DHCP
3. Network Switch (24-port)
a. Central connection point for all wired computers
b. Allows fast data transfer within the LAN
4. Customer PCs
a. Connected via Ethernet cables to the switch
5. Admin PC
a. For monitoring, billing and management
6. Wireless Access Point
a.
Provides
Wi-Fi access for staff or limited customer use.
Network Topology
Proposed network topology: Star Topology.

Communication Media
1. UTP Ethernet Cable (Cat6)
a. Connects PCs, switch and router
2. Fiber Optic Cable (ISP side)
a. For ISP to deliver high speed internet to the premise
IP Addressing (Subnetting)
This cyber cafe network uses a private IP addressing scheme to ensure secure and efficient communication between all network devices. A suitable IP address is selected to support all computers, servers and networking devices used in the cyber cafe.
The cyber cafe requires the following devices:
Total number of hosts required is 23 devices.
The selected IP address is 192.168.10.0/24 which is suitable for a small business network.
Since the number of hosts required is less than 254, only one subnet is needed and no further subnetting is required
In conclusion, the proposed IP addressing scheme is designed to ensure efficient, stable, and secure communication within the cyber cafe network. By using a private IP address with an appropriate prefix length, all devices such as client computers, server, printer, router, and administrator PC can operate smoothly within the same network. This addressing scheme simplifies network management, minimizes IP address conflicts, and supports consistent network performance during daily operations. In addition, the selected IP address range provides sufficient capacity for future expansion, making it a cost-effective and practical solution for a small business environment like a cyber cafe.
