IP Addressing (Subnetting)

IP Addressing (Subnetting)

This cyber cafe network uses a private IP addressing scheme to ensure secure and efficient communication between all network devices. A suitable IP address is selected to support all computers, servers and networking devices used in the cyber cafe.

 NETWORK REQUIREMENT

The cyber cafe requires the following devices:

  • 10 client computers
  • 1 server
  • 1 printer
  • 1 router
  • 1 administrator PC

Total number of hosts required is 23 devices.

Subnetting Calculation

The selected IP address is 192.168.10.0/24 which is suitable for a small business network.

  •  IP Address: 192.168.10.0
  •  Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
  •  Prefix Length : /24
  •  Total IP Addresses : 256
  •  Usable Host Addresses : 254

Since the number of hosts required is less than 254, only one subnet is needed and no further subnetting is required

IP Address Details

  • Network Address : 192.168.10.0
  • Broadcast Address : 192.168.10.255
  • Usable Host Address Range :  192.168.10.1 – 192.168.10.254

IP Address Allocation

In conclusion, the proposed IP addressing scheme is designed to ensure efficient, stable, and secure communication within the cyber cafe network. By using a private IP address with an appropriate prefix length, all devices such as client computers, server, printer, router, and administrator PC can operate smoothly within the same network. This addressing scheme simplifies network management, minimizes IP address conflicts, and supports consistent network performance during daily operations. In addition, the selected IP address range provides sufficient capacity for future expansion, making it a cost-effective and practical solution for a small business environment like a cyber cafe.
